Easy Crafts For Kids
The truth about Christmas is that it is a time for kids... not just little ones, but for everyone who is young at heart, including fun-loving adults. But, for some adults, Christmas loses its charm and excitement, but it's always a happy occasion to watch the faces of little ones light up.
It seems that Christmas becomes more exciting for children than their birthday because everyone is sharing in the celebration in a way that doesn't happen on their birthday.
It's a holiday everyone they know is looking forward to.

It adds to the joy of the season when children are included in family activities. Planning activities that will allow their participation will not only delight them, but you will have fun just watching them. These activities will help the children in your family create treasured memories of Christmas time. They require little to no expense and will help to make everyone's Christmas bright. Here are some of my favorite activities that younger children will have fun helping with:

1. Write a letter to Santa

Help your youngster write a letter to Santa to tell him what they want most of all for Christmas. Have them include their views on whether they have been naughty or nice. This can be a lot of fun for the child and for you.

2. Make their own Christmas cards
Buy a package of card stock and let them make Christmas cards for their friends and family members. If they are too young to use scissors, cut the sheet of card stock in half and fold each half once. Give the children crayons to draw pictures with and non-permanent markers to write a message in their card.

3. Bake Christmas cookies
Both girls and boys like to get in the kitchen and bang pots and pans. Let your children help measure ingredients. If they are too young to do that, let them pour the ingredients into the bowl and teach them to stir and mix the batter. Once the cookie dough is rolled out, let them cut out the cookies and put them on the cookie sheet.

4. Make gift tags

Gather card stock or construction paper, crayons and markers and let them create gift tags to go on presents to be put under the tree for friends and family.

5. Make a Christmas tree ornament

Gather craft items and encourage them to make one Christmas tree ornament each year and hang it on the tree. Take a picture of the tree with the ornament on it and let them create an album to keep the photos in. They will appreciate being able to recognize the improvement in their hand-crafted ornaments over the years.

6. Decorate a Christmas stocking

Buy a plain Christmas stocking. Gather craft items which include glue and glitter. Let the children decorate their own Christmas stocking and put their name on it. Hang the stockings on the mantle if you have one or near the Christmas tree where it will be easy for Santa to see.

7. Count the days until Christmas
Have a calendar available for children and have them mark off each day during the month of December and have them count the number of days left until the big day.

8. Work a Christmas theme jigsaw puzzle

Buy a Christmas theme jigsaw puzzle that is appropriate to their age and let them have fun putting the pieces together. Once the puzzle is worked, you have the option of taking it apart and letting them do it over, or you can coat it with a clear glaze sealant and frame the puzzle.

9. Join in singing Christmas carols

Everyone, young and old, loves to gather together and sing Christmas carols. Encourage your young children to join in this holiday tradition.

Taking time to plan activities that include children will increase the enjoyment of Christmas for everyone in your household. Be sure to take plenty of photos of the children engaging in these activities to preserve the memories.
